Dreads for Men

Our dreads for men are dreadlock extensions crocheted by hand: textured dreads that look grown over years, smooth dreads, viking ombre sets and human hair dreads in natural colours. You get a full head of dreads in one install, without years of growing and backcombing your own hair.

Which dreads to choose

Textured dreads are backcombed, crocheted and set with boiling water, so they keep the bumps of grown dreads. Smooth dreads have an even surface and are treated with steam. Both are made of kanekalon in black, grey, ash, brown and copper tones, including viking ombre and forest brown-green sets. One install is worn for 1.5–2 months, and a set lasts 2–3 installs. Human hair dreads are made from 100% Remy hair in black, brown, ash grey, ginger copper and Scandinavian blonde. They take heat, can be dyed darker and last for years. See all natural dreads.

Short dreads

Human hair dreads come in standard lengths from 25 to 60 cm in 5 cm steps, and other lengths from 5 to 120 cm can be made to order, so short dreads are not a problem. Synthetic dreads come in 50 and 60 cm.

How many dreads and which format

For a full head with DE dreads you need 40–45 for thin hair, 50–55 for medium hair and 60–65 for dense hair. With SE dreads you need 45–50, 60–65 and 70–75. A DE dread folds over a thin braid of your own hair and gives two ends per attachment. An SE dread has a loop and gives one end. The dread calculator gives the exact number for your hair.

Care

Wash at most once a week with shampoo diluted 1:5 with water, on the scalp only, and let the dreads air-dry. Skip conditioner and never comb the dreads. Kanekalon dreads must stay away from heat above 60–70 °C: no sauna, hot hair dryer or flat iron. Human hair dreads can go to the sauna.
