Decorations, checks and formats
Decorations are sparse, so the texture and colour do most of the work. White thread wraps in a zigzag pattern sit on some dreads. Thin glass beads sit at different heights. Silver charms in the shape of wings and small leaves add a little shine. The beads shown in the photos may not match the ones on your set. A different decoration style is possible as a custom order.
Every set has its length checked, and its thickness is confirmed at 0.8–1 cm. The final check on every set is done by a maker with more than ten years of experience. On this set, they also check that the bumps and the gradient are even across all dreads.
- DE: without any loop, each dread is folded over a thin braid of your own hair. Covering the whole head normally needs 40–50 DE dreads. Extension is the permanent format: the dreads are crocheted into your own dreads and stay in, with a correction every 3–4 months.
- SE: each dread has a loop that goes onto a single strand of your hair. The strand is then braided around the dread. For accents or a partial look, plan on 15–25 pieces.
- Permanent install: once crocheted in, the dreads stay and are never removed. A natural set needs correction every 3–4 months.
