The build runs the full 3-step process: backcombed for raw volume, crocheted with our 0.4mm precision crochet hook, then sealed in boiling water so the bumpy ridged texture stays locked. The difference is structural, not stylistic. Low-grade synthetic dreads come pre-pressed and seal-tipped — once heat fades during wear, the surface flattens and the silhouette looks plasticky. The colour story is one tone: pure jet black across every dread — no ombré, no highlights, no contrast strands. The base reads matte under daylight and softly glossy under indoor lighting. Handmade textured dreads: how the boiling water sealed dread extensions hold ridges

Built from premium heat-resistant Henlon and Kanekalon fiber, batch-consistent and colour-locked from production. The textured finish goes through the standard 3-step build: backcombing the kanekalon for raw volume, crochet braiding each strand with a precision 0.4–0.6 mm hook sized to dread thickness, then a final boiling water bath that locks the bumpy memory into the synthetic fiber.

Quality control before a Raven set leaves the studio

Every dread is ruler-measured for thickness (0.8-1 cm) and length, reviewed for consistency by a 13+ years veteran specialist, then visually inspected before packing — pure craftsmanship at every stage. Backcombed, crocheted, boiling-water-set — three stages, zero shortcuts, fully handmade. Wash and store boho dreads: care for kanekalon textured dreads

Washing: Diluted shampoo (1:5 with water) once a week max, scalp only. Rinse thoroughly. Air-dry — never use a hot blow dryer, since heat permanently flattens the bumpy surface.

Detangling: Do not comb or brush the textured dreads — gently separate tangled tips with your fingers to keep the bumpy surface intact. For stubborn tangles at the tips, cut through with scissors rather than pulling. Combing destroys the ridged surface within a single session.

Heat: Avoid saunas and direct heat sources. The ridged finish is boiling-water-set during production and structurally permanent — but high ambient temperatures during wear can still warp the texture. Skip conditioner entirely; synthetic fiber does not absorb it and buildup softens the ridges.

Double ended textured dreads and single ended textured dreads — Raven format and fit

Raven ships in two formats: Double Ended (DE) folds around a small natural-hair braid in a U-bend with both ends falling freely and the raw straight tips visible, and Single Ended (SE) attaches one dread per braid via top loop for flexible placement.
