There are no photos of the actual braiding session — the client left before we thought to grab a phone — but the finished set is a good example of a mixed approach: her own hair locked into natural dreads, then extended with synthetic pieces for length.

Extending natural dreads with synthetic is a compromise. It’s faster and cheaper than a full natural extension set, and the colour match can be closer because synthetic dye is more predictable than what a Remy set typically arrives in. The trade-off: the transition point between real and synthetic becomes visible as roots grow, so it’s better for clients who plan to wear them for six to twelve months rather than years.
