Natural Dreadlocks Made from Client’s Own Hair — Studio Session

Our client’s hair was long and dense enough to build a full set of natural dreadlocks without any extensions. We worked with a 0.4 mm crochet hook section by section, packing the fibre tight so each dread came out even, defined, and clean from root to tip. It’s the size we reach for whenever the base allows — thicker hooks work faster but leave a looser texture, and here the hair was strong enough to take the tighter pattern.

Had the hair been shorter, we would have blended in ready-made extensions built from real human hair — the finished look would sit very close to our Medium Brown human hair dread extensions.

For keeping natural dreadlocks tight and healthy once they’re in, we made a separate root care course that walks through the crochet technique at home.
