Description
Silver Grey natural dreads are handmade from ash blonde and black 100% Remy human hair, in DE or SE and lengths from 25 to 60 cm. The two colours are blended by hand while the dreads are made. Every dread carries a slightly different ratio, so no two look identical.

Silver Grey: hand-blended colour, not dyed
The colour runs from cool ash blonde to deep charcoal black, with every shade in between across the set. In daylight the lighter tones lead: muted, silvery and calm. Under warm indoor light the darker strands come forward.
Each strand of real hair reflects light in its own way. Not sure how the attachment formats differ? Our guide to SE vs DE dreads explains it.
The only hair in this set is natural Russian Remy human hair (what is Remy hair?). Nothing has been done to the strands, and their cuticles all point one way, from root to tip. This set was not chemically coloured. The silver grey tones come from blending ash blonde and black hair by hand before crocheting.
Silver Grey texture, ends and decorations
These dreads have a rough, organic texture. The surface shows natural bumps and small ridges from the hand-crochet process, with no machine smoothness.
The ends finish in loose, wavy free hair that falls from the dread body. Silver Grey comes with black round beads, silver cube beads and a filigree crescent charm. The beads you get may not match the ones in the photos.
A crochet hook and a comb are the only tools used to make every Silver Grey dread by hand. No machine or wrapping is involved. Over 13+ years, our studio has made and sent out more than 5,000 sets. Before it leaves, every set is checked one final time by a maker with more than ten years of experience.
Silver Grey formats and installation
With no loop, a DE dread simply folds over a thin braid of your own hair. An SE dread is attached by slipping its loop onto a single strand of your hair. That strand is then braided around the dread. Extension is the permanent format: the dreads are crocheted into your own dreads and stay in, with a correction every 3–4 months.
A temporary braid-in install of Silver Grey stays in for 1.5–2 months. Then the dreads come out, and you can put them back in again. Removal won’t damage your natural hair. A permanent crochet install is never taken out; it just needs a correction every 3–4 months.
Lengths run from 25 cm (10 inches) to 60 cm (24 inches) in 5 cm steps. Set sizes go from 10 to 55 dreads, in steps of five. Silver grey is one of the most universal tones in the collection and suits women and men equally.
Caring for Silver Grey dreads
- Washing: No more than weekly. Dilute shampoo at 1:5 with water, apply it only to the scalp and rinse it all out well.
- No conditioner: The dreads sit on thin braids of your own hair, and conditioner makes those braids come loose.
- Tangles: Never comb or brush Silver Grey dreads. Use your fingers to pull tangled ends apart. If a knot is badly tangled, you may carefully cut it off.
- Swimming: Avoid chlorinated water. It weakens the hair and dulls the silver tone. Rinse with clean water right after swimming.
- Dyeing: The hair can be dyed only to a darker shade. Do not bleach or lighten it.

Like all natural dreads, these will develop some fuzz over time. This is normal for real hair. A crochet hook correction every 3–4 months, done by you or a loctician, keeps them tidy.
Mixing Silver Grey with other colours
To mix colours, buy a second set alongside Silver Grey. For a salt-and-pepper look, add 10 or 15 Silver Grey dreads to a jet black set. For a softer mix, combine them with brown dreads. For matching colours, browse the full natural dreads collection.
Between installs, take the dreads out gently, let them air-dry lying flat and store them loosely.
All our photos are taken in natural daylight, away from direct sun. The shade can look a little different on your screen. Hand blending means one Silver Grey set can differ slightly in tone from another.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which format should I choose for Silver Grey: DE or SE?
Both come in every length and set size. DE dreads are loopless and fold over a thin braid. SE dreads hook onto a strand of hair by their loop, then that strand is braided around them.
How long does a Silver Grey install last?
A temporary braid-in install lasts 1.5–2 months. As your hair grows, the braids loosen, so the dreads come out and can go back in again. A permanent crochet install stays in for good and is corrected every 3–4 months.
Can I mix Silver Grey with other dreads?
Yes, you just order a second set too. You could pair a jet black set with 10 or 15 Silver Grey dreads, or mix Silver Grey with brown.
Is the Silver Grey set made to order?
Yes, we make every natural set, including Silver Grey, after you order. Ready sets are rare, but you can ask about one at daniladaddydread@gmail.com. Shipping cost and time for your country appear under the buy button.
Can I order Silver Grey in a custom shade or with other decorations?
Yes. We can shift the blend toward cooler or warmer smoky tones, or swap the beads and charms. Send a photo of your natural hair to daniladaddydread@gmail.com and we will match the shade to it.
Customer Reviews
I got a set of ten locks custom-made to match my salt-and-pepper natural hair. After sharing a photo with the shop, they nailed the color and kept me in the loop with progress pics along the way. The quality is top-notch. Haven't put them in yet, but I'm planning to install them in a month or so.
Totally obsessed with my dreads!
These are hands down the most stunning dreads I've ever come across. I'm absolutely thrilled — they're incredibly soft, lightweight, and exactly what I asked for. Perfection. Highly recommend this seller, totally trustworthy. I'll definitely be ordering again.
silver grey is one of those colors that goes plastic-looking really easily with cheap synthetics, but human hair like this just hits different. ordered them as my husband was anxious about going grey naturally and wanted to try them out as a step. now hes obsessed and wants me to do mine too. anastasias install instructions on youtube were a lifesaver
