Description

Scandinavian Blonde is a set of cool ash blonde natural dreads, made by hand from 100% Remy human hair in DE or SE, 25 to 60 cm long. It is not platinum-white and not yellow. Every dread sits in the same clean, cool tone with no warmth or brassiness. On the head it looks like hair that grew this way.

Cool blonde for fair hair and for contrast

On fair or ashy hair, these blonde dreads blend with your own colour at the root. They read as part of your hair rather than something attached. On darker hair the contrast is sharp. Icy dreads through chocolate or warm brown look like highlights, with no bleach or foils. To see how single and double ended dreads differ once they are in, look at our side-by-side comparison.

Every dread in Scandinavian Blonde shares one cool ash blonde, without any warm or golden undertone. The crocheted surface breaks up the light, so each dread shows soft shadow and highlight within a single tone. In bright daylight the set looks pale silver-blonde. Indoors it settles into a soft, muted ash.

Viking beads and silver wraps

Some of the dreads carry silver metal beads in a Viking style. They are small ornate cylinders with Celtic knotwork that catch the light against the pale hair. Short silver thread wraps accent a few more pieces. Cool blonde and antiqued metal give the set a raw, Nordic look that feels historical rather than like costume jewellery. Loose wavy tips finish each dread. The beads pictured are examples only, so your set may come with different ones. Different beads or extra metal accents make it a custom order.

Scandinavian Blonde: formats and lengths

Scandinavian Blonde comes as DE or SE. A DE dread has no loop and simply folds over a thin braid of your own hair. This format is the usual choice for a full head. An SE dread ends in a loop that goes onto one strand of your hair, and that strand is then braided around the dread. SE suits face-framing or filling specific sections. Either format works as a temporary braid-in install or a permanent crochet install. Lengths run from 25 cm (10″) up to 60 cm (24″), and any of them can be ordered. The full collection lets you browse all colours and lengths. Extension is the permanent format: the dreads are crocheted into your own dreads and stay in, with a correction every 3–4 months.

Scandinavian Blonde: remy human hair, crocheted by hand

The raw material for Scandinavian Blonde is 100% Remy human hair from Russia (what is Remy hair?). The cuticles keep their natural direction across every strand. Each dread is shaped one at a time by hand, with nothing but a crochet hook and a comb. The crocheted surface is dense enough to hold the metal beads in place. Our studio has crafted and shipped over 5,000 sets during more than 13 years of work. A maker with more than ten years of experience does the final check on each set.

Caring for Scandinavian Blonde

  • Washing: No more often than weekly. Dilute shampoo at a ratio of one to five with water, put it on the scalp only and rinse well. Do not pile the dreads on top of your head while washing.
  • No conditioner: The dreads hang on thin braids of your own hair, and conditioner makes those braids come loose.
  • Colour care: To keep the ash shade cool, wash with a purple or silver toning shampoo once every two weeks. Avoid chlorinated water without rinsing first.
  • Tangles: Never use a comb or brush on the dreads. Work any tangled ends apart by hand. If a knot will not come undone, you can carefully cut it off.

Mixing this shade

Scandinavian Blonde mixes well with other sets. Mixing means buying a second set as well. For icy contrast, add 10 SE dreads of this set to a dark brown or auburn set. For gentle depth, you could instead mix a few warmer dreads from a different set into a full blonde install.

A temporary install stays in for 1.5–2 months. Then the dreads come out, and you can put them back in again. Between installs, lay the dreads flat to air dry and store them loosely. A permanent install stays in for good, though it needs a correction every 3–4 months.

All product photos are taken in natural light, away from direct sunlight. Your screen settings affect what you see. Natural hair varies a little from batch to batch, and this shows more clearly in ash blonde.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I keep Scandinavian Blonde from turning brassy?

Sun and washing can push ash blonde warmer. A purple or silver toning shampoo used every two weeks cancels out that brassiness. Rinse before swimming in chlorinated water, since chlorine can push blonde toward green.

Which natural hair colour works best under Scandinavian Blonde?

Fair, ash or light blonde hair blends best. On darker hair the icy dreads read as clear highlights. For black hair, we can make a custom fade that starts in your own colour at the root and turns ash blonde along the length. Email daniladaddydread@gmail.com.

Can I combine Scandinavian Blonde with darker dreads?

Yes. For icy highlights, pair 10 or 15 Scandinavian Blonde SE dreads with a chocolate brown, auburn or black set. The Scandinavian Blonde set itself stays the same.

Should I choose DE or SE for Scandinavian Blonde?

DE suits a full install, where 40–50 dreads create more volume. For a partial install, choose SE: 20–30 dreads give less volume and add cool accents to darker hair.

When will my Scandinavian Blonde set ship?

Each natural set is made once you order it. For questions about your order, email daniladaddydread@gmail.com. Shipping cost and delivery time for your country appear below the buy button.

Can I order Scandinavian Blonde in a different tone or with other decorations?

Yes, as a custom set. The shade can be moved toward a warmer champagne, a cooler platinum or a silver-grey. We can also swap the Viking-style beads and silver wraps for simpler or more ornate ones. Send a photo of your hair to daniladaddydread@gmail.com and we will match the colour.

The color matched exactly what I expected. The ends feel so nice and way better than synthetic hair. Can't wait to get them installed! My stylist is putting them in next week. Thank you!

viking beads are no joke, the metalwork looks like something from a museum not a costume shop. went with the lighter scandi blonde to match my beard. partner installed them for me in one long evening, mostly painless except a couple braids near my temples. wore them to a folk fest in gotland and was approached by like 10 different people. happy customer.
