Description
Mixed Blonde & Brown is a natural set of DE or SE dreads, 25 to 60 cm long, made by hand from blonde and brown 100% Remy human hair. Sandy brown runs into pale platinum at the tips. The warm, sun-bleached look comes from mixing several natural hair shades by hand. No dye is used. The colour comes from the hair itself.

How the Mixed Blonde & Brown blend is made
Three to four natural blonde and brown tones are sorted and mixed by hand before crocheting starts. The darker sandy brown sits nearer the roots. Lighter platinum strands open up towards the tips. The blend never repeats exactly, so each dread has its own balance of tones. In sunlight the colour shifts the way naturally sun-bleached hair does. New to dreads? Both formats are explained step by step in our guide to SE vs DE dreads.
All the hair in this set is natural Remy human hair, and every bit of it comes from Russia (what is Remy hair?). The cuticles all run in the same direction, from root to tip. No chemical colouring is used on this set. The palette comes only from blending different natural shades by hand.
The dreads are semi-textured, with small bumps across the surface. They are not machine-smooth and not heavily rough, so they look lived-in from day one. The ends are loose, wavy free hair in lighter blonde tones. Decorations are turquoise ceramic beads, silver metal beads and thread wraps. The beads you receive may be a little different from those in the photos.
A crochet hook and a comb are the only tools used to make every Mixed Blonde & Brown dread by hand. Nothing is pressed or ironed. All natural sets are made to order. For this blend, the hair is hand-sorted first, and only then does crocheting start. Over 5,000 sets have been made and shipped by our studio across more than 13 years. A maker with more than ten years of experience gives every set its final check before shipping.
Formats, sizes and wear
A DE dread has no loop and is folded over a thin braid of your own hair. An SE dread has a loop at one end that goes onto a single strand of your hair. That strand is then braided around the dread. Either format can be braided in temporarily or crocheted in permanently. A full head usually takes about 40–50 DE dreads. Partial installs of 20–30 dreads add warm blonde highlights to a darker base. Extension is the permanent format: the dreads are crocheted into your own dreads and stay in, with a correction every 3–4 months.
Lengths start at 25 cm (10 inches) and rise in 5 cm steps up to 60 cm (24 inches). Sets come in steps of 5, from 10 dreads up to 55.
A temporary install stays in for 1.5–2 months before the dreads are taken out. You can reinstall the same dreads, which means a single set lasts for many installs. Take the dreads out gently, dry them flat, and store them without folding. A permanent crochet install is not taken out. Instead, it needs a correction every 3–4 months.
Caring for Mixed Blonde & Brown
- Washing: no more often than once a week. Dilute shampoo 1 to 5 with water, apply it only to your scalp, and rinse well.
- No conditioner: the dreads sit on thin braids of your own hair, and conditioner makes those braids come loose.
- Tangles: pull them apart by hand. Keep combs and brushes away from the dreads. If a knot is badly tangled, you may carefully cut it off.
- Colour and heat: the hair can be dyed darker, but never bleached or lightened. It can be heat-styled with a protectant.
Attachment tutorials and maintenance videos are free at DaddyDread Academy. Among them is a course showing how to maintain natural dreads with a crochet hook.
Like all natural dreads, these develop some fuzz over time. That is normal for real hair. A crochet hook correction every 3–4 months keeps them neat. Do it yourself with the Academy course or visit a loctician.
To mix colours, buy another set as well. For example, add 10–15 Mixed Blonde & Brown dreads to a chocolate brown set for a sun-kissed effect. Or add them to auburn dreads for contrast. The full natural dreads collection has colours that pair well with this one.
We shoot in daylight, without flash and away from direct sun, so the photos show the colour as truly as we can. Screen settings may shift the shade slightly. Each set is blended by hand, so expect slight variations in tone from one to the next.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is Mixed Blonde & Brown different from dyed blonde-and-brown sets?
No dye is used. The colour comes from blending natural hair of different shades, from sandy brown to pale platinum. With no lightening or colouring, the cuticles stay intact.
Will the blonde in Mixed Blonde & Brown change colour over time?
Undyed natural blonde can warm slightly in the sun, as real hair does. For a cooler blonde, use a purple or silver toning shampoo every 2–3 weeks. Skip it to let the blend warm up naturally.
Can I dye Mixed Blonde & Brown dreads later?
Yes, but only into darker shades. Since it has never been dyed, the hair responds well to both semi-permanent and permanent colour. Do not bleach natural dreads, because bleach damages the hair. Want a lighter or very different shade? Custom sets can be requested at daniladaddydread@gmail.com. Dyed dreads can end up feeling a bit fluffier. A short touch-up with a crochet hook brings back the density, and the Academy shows how.
Which natural hair colour suits Mixed Blonde & Brown?
Dirty-blonde to light-brown hair blends most naturally with the sandy-to-platinum range. On darker hair, the platinum tips stand out more. For black hair, we can make a custom root-match fade: dark roots matching yours, then the blonde blend down the length. Email daniladaddydread@gmail.com.
DE or SE: which format suits Mixed Blonde & Brown?
A full install of 40–50 DE dreads gives the whole sun-bleached look. For a partial install of 20–30 dreads, such as blonde highlights on a chocolate brown or auburn base, SE is a good fit. Either format can be braided in temporarily or crocheted in permanently.
How do I order Mixed Blonde & Brown, and when does it ship?
Natural sets are made to order, so ready ones are rarely in stock. Email daniladaddydread@gmail.com first to check availability. Delivery cost and time for your country are shown under the buy button.
Can I order Mixed Blonde & Brown with a different blend or decorations?
Yes. We can shift the blend towards more platinum or more sandy brown, with warmer or cooler base tones. We can also swap the turquoise ceramic beads, silver metal beads or thread wraps. One photo of your natural hair is all we need to match the shade. You get photos while we make your Mixed Blonde & Brown set and approve it before it ships.
