Description
Elven Forest is a set of DE or SE textured dreads in brown, ginger and forest green, handmade from low-temperature kanekalon. You can order SE dreads at 50 or 60 cm, while the DE version comes only at 50 cm. There is no ombre: each dread is a single colour. The palette is earthy and warm, with green as an accent throughout.
The set is decorated with X-pattern thread wraps in green, ginger, brown and yellow, gold metallic beads and slim three-strand accent braids. The closest set in our line is Forest Elf brown-green set. This one adds bright ginger and two more brown tones.

Five woodland tones in one set
The Elven Forest set brings together five different shades. Dark brown forms the base, and a lighter warm brown adds midtone warmth. Bright ginger catches the light like copper. A brown-ginger marled blend bridges the two, and forest green reads as moss or fern.
Each colour has its own dreads. They blend visually across the set, with no gradient inside any single dread. The bumpy, ridged surface gives the set an organic, lived-in look. Instead of being cut evenly, the ends are left raw.
We took these photos outdoors in daylight, out of direct sunlight. Colour is added to the fiber while it is being manufactured. You don’t need to worry about the colour fading or oxidising, and one batch looks just like the next.
How the Elven Forest set is made
A comb and a crochet hook are the only tools we use to make each Elven Forest dread by hand. First the fiber is backcombed. The fiber is then crocheted, with a 0.6 mm hook for thicker dreads and a 0.4 mm hook for the rest. To finish, we treat the dreads with boiling water so the bumpy texture stays fixed.

DE and SE formats of Elven Forest
DE (double-ended) dreads have no loop and are folded over a thin braid of your own hair. A strand of your hair passes through the loop on each SE (single-ended) dread. That strand is then braided around the dread to hold it. Read the DE vs SE breakdown to compare both formats in detail.

Caring for Elven Forest
- Washing: Wash no more often than once a week. Dilute shampoo with water at 1:5, massage it only into your scalp and rinse well. Skip conditioner, because it makes the thin braids of your own hair holding the dreads come loose.
- Detangling: Never comb or brush the dreads. Separate tangles with your fingers. If a knot is very tangled, you can carefully cut it off.
- Heat: Low-temperature kanekalon is not heat-resistant and gets damaged above 60–70 °C. Keep away from hot dryers, hot tools, open flames and saunas. Once washed, the dreads should dry naturally in the air.
- Storage: At night, use a satin pillowcase and wear a bonnet or a loose braid. Keep the Elven Forest set somewhere dry when it is not installed. You can reinstall the set right away without a break.

How does Elven Forest differ from a smooth set?
This set has a bumpy surface from root to tip. Steam is used to fix the material in smooth dreads. Both are crocheted by hand. Textured dreads are backcombed first, then set with boiling water.
Can I mix Elven Forest with other textured sets?
Yes. To mix, buy another set as well, for example 10 Elven Forest dreads plus 10 or 20 from a different one. Elven Forest does not change, and checkout has no ratio option to pick. Install the two sets on alternating braids for blended coverage.
Why does Elven Forest have both ginger and brown-ginger dreads?
The marled brown-ginger dreads are intentional. They bridge the brown and ginger tones, so the set moves between colours without sharp borders.

So these dreads hit my soul with the tears of angels!!!!! The install was so easy… I did a braid in single sections. Only took me two hours and boom… my whole Rasta soul was singing Rasta love!!!
