Description
Dark Brown Copper Ombre is a set of 50 cm double-ended smooth synthetic dreads, handmade from low-temperature kanekalon, with espresso-dark roots that blend gradually into bright copper. The copper runs all the way to the tips. Bold fishbone braids, red and yellow thread wraps and small brass leaf charms give the set an autumn, slightly witchy mood. We have made more than 5,000 sets at the DaddyDread studio in over 13 years. Copper over brown is one of the warm colours our customers choose most.

Dark brown copper ombre double ended synthetic dreads, kanekalon smooth dreads
The colour has two zones. Dark espresso brown covers the first 6–8 cm at the crown, then it blends smoothly into bright copper-orange for the rest of the length. There is no muddy middle section: the brown simply warms into copper. Both colours go into the kanekalon when the fiber is made, not over a paler base. Dark brown copper smooth dreads with copper this bright look like warm autumn hair, not like a costume.
This set leans on braids more than on thread. Each 10-DE pack has 9 smooth synthetic dreads and 1 bold fishbone braid, and bigger packs get more braids in the same proportion.
Here is what the decorations are made of and where they sit:
| Element | Material | Placement |
|---|---|---|
| Fishbone braids | Same fiber, braided by hand | 1 per 10 DE dreads, easy to see |
| Red thread X-wraps | Cotton thread | Middle of some dreads |
| Yellow thread spiral wraps | Cotton thread | Along some dreads |
| Gold-tone leaf charms | Brass-plated metal | A few, near the roots; yours may differ from the photos |
| Loose copper tips | Low-temperature kanekalon | The free ends of every dread |
Our fiber here is premium low-temperature kanekalon, coloured at the fiber factory. Every finished dread gets a steam treatment that sets the material. Day to day, these smooth synthetic dreads are fine in summer, in a warm room or in humid air, and a second pack bought a year later will match the copper. Real heat is another story: above 60–70 °C this kind of kanekalon deforms.
Smooth finish, careful crochet: that is how every Dark Brown Copper Ombre set leaves the studio. Steamed by hand, one dread at a time, which gives the dreads their even, polished line.
Each dread is shaped with a comb and our 0.4 mm crochet hook. Before a set of handmade dreadlock extensions leaves us, we check three things: that every dread is 0.8–1 cm thick from top to bottom, that the lengths match, and that the colour is right. A maker with thirteen years at the work bench does the final check.
Dark Brown Copper Ombre comes as DE smooth dreads only. You fold each double-ended dread over a slim braid of your own hair, so both copper ends of these smooth dread extensions fall loose.
Plan on 40 to 50 DE dreads for a full head dread set, or 10 to 20 for stripes or just the front. Most people who buy from us pick double ended synthetic dreads, smooth or textured, and thinner hair handles them well. Under the buy button you will find the delivery price and time for your country. If double-ended dreads are new to you, read our DE vs SE comparison guide.
Caring for Dark Brown Copper Ombre
A wash every week or so is plenty: mix one part shampoo with five parts water and work it into your scalp, then let the dreads dry in the air. Do not comb or brush the smooth dreads. Pull tangles apart with your fingers, and if one knot will not give, snip it off with care. Saunas and hot hair dryers are off the table, since this fiber does not cope with heat. Leave conditioner out too, because it makes the braids under the dreads slippery. For sleep, a loose braid or a bonnet keeps things tidy. Our care and installation guides show the whole DE method.
Mixing ideas. Solid dark-brown synthetic dreadlock extensions make the crown look darker. Other brown synthetic dreadlock extensions give a soft blend, and curly sets in natural blonde or rust add contrast. Order the second set too, for example 10 or 20 dreads, and install both together.
On thin hair, smooth dreads for fine hair are most comfortable in DE format. Each dread folds over its braid, so both ends share the pull. The flat dread extensions lie neatly over curly hair. The fishbone braids also sit well next to other braids from our full synthetic range at DaddyDread.
You can wear these reusable dreads again and again. Take them out by undoing the little braids, store them dry in a cloth pouch, and install them once your own hair is braided again.
Each install is good for roughly a month and a half to two months. Across two or three installs the copper keeps its brightness and the espresso roots keep their depth, and by then most customers are ready for a fresh set anyway.
Our photos were taken in soft, indirect daylight, and your screen may still shift the shade. In real life a warm lamp pushes the copper towards rust-orange, while cool LED light makes it look slightly redder. Every batch is compared against our colour sample.

The DaddyDread studio started making handmade dreadlock extensions over 13 years ago, and copper shades have been part of the smooth line from the start, next to other kanekalon smooth dreads and smooth dreadlock extensions. Dark Brown Copper Ombre is one of our smooth crochet dreads with the most autumn in it.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the Dark Brown Copper Ombre set last?
Count on six to eight weeks per install. Because these smooth synthetic dreads were steamed during making, their flat finish needs no touch-ups between installs.
Looked after well, the set handles two or three installs. The copper ends normally show wear first, since the bottom of each dread rubs against pillows and clothes the most.
Is the change from brown to copper sharp or soft?
Soft. The espresso brown at the crown warms gradually into copper over a short stretch, so there is no hard line between the two colours. From a distance the set reads as dark roots with bright copper lengths, which is how these smooth crochet dreads look most natural.
Will the bright copper fade after washing?
No. The copper is part of the kanekalon fiber, not a dye on the surface, so weekly washing with diluted shampoo does not take colour out. Do not put conditioner or styling products on these steam-set dreads: conditioner loosens the braids that hold them.
How visible are the fishbone braids once the set is in?
Very. There is one fishbone braid for every ten DE dreads. They are meant to stand out as a clear pattern, not to blend into the background. Most customers place them near the face or at the crown so the pattern is easy to see. The braids are made from the same fiber as part of the set and cannot be removed.
