Description
You can order the Brown Wheat Boho textured synthetic dreads at 50 cm, in either DE or SE. We handmake them from low-temperature kanekalon, using dark chocolate brown, medium brown and russet wheat blonde. The palette matches our smooth-finish sister set, but here the surface is bumpy and raw rather than flat.
If you like these colours but want a lived-in look, this is the textured version. Three browns are mixed through the set and decorated with thread wraps in five colours, gold metal beads and slim accent braids.

How the Brown Wheat Boho are made
Each dread goes through three manual stages. First, we backcomb the fiber with a comb. We then crochet it, using a 0.4 mm hook on most dreads and switching to 0.6 mm for the thicker ones. The last step uses boiling water, which fixes the bumpy relief in place.
We need 1–3 days to finish a textured set like Brown Wheat Boho. The result looks like mature natural locs from the first day.
These dreads are made from low-temperature kanekalon. This material keeps its bumpy texture nicely, though it cannot withstand heat. Anything hotter than 60–70 °C harms it.

Three browns in the Brown Wheat Boho set
Three browns sit side by side throughout the set. There is a deep dark chocolate brown, a warm medium brown and a soft russet wheat blonde on the lighter strands. There is no gradient: the three tones are mixed dread by dread, the way natural locs build depth over time. The palette goes well with cream, beige, mustard and earthy clothing.
We shoot every photo in natural daylight away from direct sun, so the colours look as true as possible. Your screen may still show them a little differently. The colour is added while the fiber is produced, so it never fades or oxidises and stays identical from batch to batch. Read how texture differences shape each style in the studio guide.
Thread wraps, beads and accent braids
This set has more decoration than our standard textured sets. Thread in five colours is wrapped through the dreads in X-patterns and tight spirals: brown, white, beige, mustard yellow and emerald green. Each colour picks up a different undertone in the brown wheat palette.
Gold metal cylindrical beads with engraved patterns are spaced through the strands. The beads in your Brown Wheat Boho set may look different from the ones shown in the photos. Slim three-strand accent braids in wheat blonde and dark brown frame the set. We braid them by hand alongside the dreads, adding one for every 10 DE (every 20 SE). The wraps and beads stay in place across installs.
Brown Wheat Boho Textured in DE and SE
A DE (double-ended) dread has no loop and is just folded over a thin braid made from your own hair. On an SE (single-ended) dread, a loop goes onto a strand of hair, which is then braided around the dread. For more detail, read the DE vs SE breakdown.
To cover a full head, plan on 40–50 DE dreads or 80–100 SE dreads. For a partial look mixed into your own hair, a smaller set is enough.
A mature loc look without the wait
Thanks to the textured surface, you get mature-looking locs from day one instead of after years of growth. The raw tips and the relief from root to tip look like natural aged dreads. It suits festival weekends, everyday boho styling and layered looks.
Next to smooth synthetic dreads, this set looks raw and lived-in rather than polished.
Care for Brown Wheat Boho
- Washing: no more than once a week, mix shampoo with water at a 1:5 ratio and wash. Work the shampoo into your scalp alone, then rinse thoroughly.
- No conditioner: the dreads sit on thin braids of your own hair, and conditioner makes those braids come loose.
- No combing: never use a comb or brush on the dreads. Separate tangles with your fingers. A badly tangled knot may be carefully cut away. Before bed, put on a bonnet or loosely braid the dreads together.
- Heat: keep away from hot tools, hot hair dryers, saunas and open flames. The fiber gets damaged once temperatures pass 60–70 °C. Let the dreads air-dry every time you wash them.
- Storage and reuse: keep the set somewhere dry once it is completely dry itself. One set gives you 2–3 installs, each worn for 1.5–2 months. You can reinstall it right away, with no break needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does one set of Brown Wheat Boho last?
You can wear each install of Brown Wheat Boho for 1.5–2 months. Then take them out and reinstall them on fresh braids. A set gives 2–3 installs. Since boiling water sets the bumpy relief, you don't need to refresh it between installs.
Can I mix the Brown Wheat Boho textured dreads with the smooth version?
Yes, by buying a set of each. For example, pair 10 textured dreads from this set with 10 or 20 dreads from the smooth Brown Wheat Boho set. Each set arrives exactly as listed, since there is no texture ratio to pick at checkout.
Are the Brown Wheat Boho suitable for fine hair?
Yes. The dreads are fixed to lots of small braids of your own hair rather than a few big ones. Because a DE dread has no loop and folds over a thin braid, DE is often a good match for fine hair.
Can I dye the Brown Wheat Boho textured dreads?
No. Hair dye won't work on this synthetic fiber. Since the colour is added during fiber production, it stays unfaded and consistent across batches.
Why is boiling water used for these textured dreads?
Once the fiber has been backcombed and crocheted, boiling water locks its bumpy relief in place. Smooth dreads are treated with steam instead, which sets the material while keeping the surface flat.
Can I add my own thread wraps or charms to the Brown Wheat Boho set?
Yes. The wraps and beads in this set are applied by hand and stay in place. Your own wraps, ribbons or charms attach normally, and the bumpy surface gives them good grip.
