Description
Brown & Sandy Blonde Mix brings together dark brown, medium brown and sandy blonde dreads, handmade from 100% Remy human hair in DE or SE, 25–60 cm. Look at the roots: some dreads start in dark brown, others in caramel, a few in sandy blonde. The tones are mixed while the set is made, not bundled afterwards. Each dread keeps its own shade, and together they give a natural, layered boho texture.

How the Brown & Sandy Blonde Mix is made
A crochet hook and a comb are the only tools, and each dread is finished before the next one begins. No wrapping and no machines. Before crocheting starts, the hair is sorted by colour. The maker then arranges the tones so neighbouring dreads do not match exactly. More than 5,000 sets have left our studio over the past 13+ years. Our guide to single and double ended dreads shows how the two formats differ.
A maker with more than ten years of experience gives every set its final check before it goes out. On this mix, the check also covers tone balance, so the sandy blonde and darker brown pieces are spread evenly through the set.
Colours and decorations
The palette is warm, with no ash or cool grey undertones. Medium brown anchors the set, sandy blonde dreads run through it, and a few dark brown pieces add depth. In daylight the blonde pieces look warmer; indoors the browns pull the set together. A dark brown polymer clay bead sits on one dread, and a few carry short cream and white thread wraps. The beads you receive could look different from those in the photos. Tips are left loose and wavy.
The hair
This mix is crocheted from Russian hair that is 100% Remy human hair (what is Remy hair?). That keeps every shade soft, so the mix feels like one head of hair.
Brown & Sandy Blonde Mix: formats and lengths
- DE: this dread has no loop; it wraps over a thin braid of your own hair. Because every DE dread has two ends, most people pick it for a full head. Extension is the permanent format: the dreads are crocheted into your own dreads and stay in, with a correction every 3–4 months.
- SE: one strand of your hair goes through the loop at the top of this dread. The strand is then braided around the dread to hold it. Good for accents and partial installs.
You can braid either format in temporarily or crochet it in permanently. Lengths run from 25 cm (10″) up to 60 cm (24″). See every colour option in the collection.
Mixing this set with other colours
The mixed tones blend well with other sets. Pair 10–20 Brown & Sandy Blonde Mix dreads with a solid chocolate or jet black set, and the sandy pieces become natural highlights. Or wear the full set on its own. The learning hub covers mixing, braid sectioning and colour placement.
Caring for the Brown & Sandy Blonde Mix
Limit washing to one time per week. Dilute shampoo at one part to five parts water, massage it into the scalp and rinse well. Conditioner loosens the thin braids of your own hair that anchor the dreads, so leave it out. To protect the sandy tones, choose a colour-safe shampoo and avoid clarifying products. Keep combs and brushes away from the dreads. If tips tangle, pull them apart by hand. Badly tangled knots may be carefully trimmed off. Full care guides are in the DaddyDread Academy, with free videos.
A temporary install of the Brown & Sandy Blonde Mix stays in for 1.5–2 months. Then take the dreads out, dry and store them flat, and put them in again. A permanent install stays in for good and needs a correction every 3–4 months. Every set is photographed in the same natural light, but screens vary. Real hair differs slightly between batches, so no two sets are exact copies.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Brown & Sandy Blonde Mix different from an ombré set?
An ombré changes colour along each dread, from darker roots to lighter tips. This set mixes whole dreads of different colours instead. Each dread keeps one tone from root to tip. The depth comes from the dreads sitting side by side.
How do I keep the sandy blonde pieces in this mix from turning yellow?
The sandy blonde dreads are lightened human hair and react more to sunlight than the browns. Use a colour-safe shampoo on the whole set. Every 2–3 weeks, treat the blonde dreads with a purple or silver toning shampoo to keep yellow tones away.
Can I dye the Brown & Sandy Blonde Mix darker later?
Yes. Darker shades of semi-permanent and permanent dye work on human hair. You can deepen the whole set or move single sandy dreads towards caramel or brown. Never bleach natural dreads, because trapped product damages the hair. Want something lighter or quite different? For a custom set, write to daniladaddydread@gmail.com. Dyed dreads get fluffier, so expect to tidy them with a crochet hook afterwards. The Academy covers the method.
Which hair colour suits the Brown & Sandy Blonde Mix best?
Medium brown to dirty blonde hair blends most naturally with this warm palette. On darker hair the sandy pieces look like boho highlights. For black hair, we can make a custom root-match fade: dark roots that match yours, then the mixed tones down the length. Email daniladaddydread@gmail.com.
Should I choose DE or SE for the Brown & Sandy Blonde Mix?
Most full installs need 40–50 DE dreads. The mix then reads evenly across the head. For a partial install, such as highlights in darker hair, 20–30 SE dreads work well. Both can be worn temporarily or installed permanently with a crochet hook.
