The decoration brief is mixed-metal and earthy. Brown thread wraps run in tight cross-stitch X-patterns — woodland warm, never on more than one strand in three. Yellow thread wraps appear as thinner spirals, often paired against the brown X. Both gold and silver cylinder beads are placed sparingly. Braid accents follow a clean nine-to-one rhythm:

Wheatfield is built from premium low-temperature kanekalon, dyed at fiber stage and hand-steamed into a smooth surface that holds its shape across months of wear. The honey-blonde gradient is fixed into the fiber itself, not coated on top. These heat-resistant synthetic dreads take summer heat, warm installs and humidity in their stride and stay batch-consistent across re-orders of these crochet dreadlock extensions; what they cannot take is concentrated heat — the fiber melts at 70–90 °C, so keep any styling heat under 60 °C.

A full head dread set uses 40–50 DE pieces or 80–100 SE; partial installs need 20–30 DE.

Caring for steam set dreads: weekly wash and finger-separation routine

The routine is simple: wash once a week with diluted shampoo (1:5 ratio, scalp only), air-dry to 100% dry, and never use a hot blow dryer or visit a sauna — high heat permanently deforms the smooth dreadlock extensions surface.

Do not comb or brush the smooth dreads — gently separate any tangled tips with your fingers. Skip conditioner altogether — synthetic fiber does not absorb it. At night, gather the dreads in a loose braid or sleep bonnet to keep the strands from rolling against each other in your sleep. For first-time installers who like a checklist instead of prose, the same routine condensed:

1. Mix shampoo 1:5 with water — diluted, never neat
2. Apply to scalp only, never down the dread length
3. Rinse thoroughly with cool to lukewarm water
4. Air-dry only — never hot blow-dry, never sauna
5. Separate any tip tangles with bare fingertips, never a comb
6. Gather into a loose plait or bonnet at night
