Description
Textured ombré dreads and dark brown curls come together in Dark Brown Ombré Mix, a set of 50 cm synthetic DE dreads. We handcraft the textured dreads from kanekalon, a low-temperature fiber. The curls are henlon.
The textured dreads fade from espresso roots to wheat blonde tips, a warm, sun-faded gradient. The curls stay solid dark brown, with no gradient and no highlight. Both share a warm brown base, so the colour holds together across the two textures. The mix looks layered, as if two sets grew into one.

How we make the Dark Brown Ombré Mix
Every dread in the Dark Brown Ombré Mix is shaped by hand, using nothing more than a crochet hook and a comb. To build the textured dreads, we first backcomb the fiber using the comb. We then crochet each one, using a 0.4 mm hook in most cases and switching to 0.6 mm for thicker dreads. To set the relief, the dreads are treated with boiling water. A single textured set needs 1 to 3 days of work.
The curls are henlon, a high-temperature fiber. The thickness stays at 0.8–1 cm along the full length of every dread.
Dark Brown Ombré Mix: decorations and format
The decorations are kept simple. Some dreads carry thread wraps in cream, white and brown, which alternate in a cross-stitch pattern. Spaced along the dreads are round white wooden beads, warm in tone and free of metallic shine. Your set may arrive with beads that are not the same as those pictured.
Dark Brown Ombré Mix is supplied as 50 cm double ended dreads. Each DE dread is attached by folding it over a thin braid of your own hair, so no loop is needed. The set itself does not change. If you want extra curls or extra texture, buy another set as well, such as one from the curly collection.
Wear, care and reuse
- Tangles: separate them with your fingers. Keep combs and brushes away from the dreads at all times. A badly tangled knot may be carefully cut off.
- Washing: once a week at most, with shampoo diluted 1:5 and applied only to your scalp. Let the dreads air-dry. Skip conditioner, since it loosens the thin braids of your own hair that hold the dreads in place.
- Heat: keep every part of the set below 60–70 °C. So avoid saunas, hot blow dryers and flat irons.
- Night: to shield the curl tips from friction, wear a satin bonnet or tie a loose, low plait.
- Storage: store the dreads somewhere dry. The set can go straight into the next install without a break.
Each install of the Dark Brown Ombré Mix lasts 1.5–2 months, and the set can be installed 2–3 times. Because the colour is fixed during fiber production, it will neither fade nor oxidise.
The espresso-to-wheat gradient and the dark brown curls go well with warm brown, earth-tone and denim clothes. For a full head, choose the 50-dread set. The 20-dread set works for accents through a darker natural base.
