The colour story splits clean per 10 DE pieces: 5 strands in pure platinum ash blonde, 2 in vivid emerald-teal, 2 in ash-and-emerald twisted strands where both fibers crochet together, and 1 flat 3-strand braid in either ash or emerald. The ash zone reads as cool silver-platinum with no warm undertones; the emerald sits between Tiffany blue and mermaid green, fully saturated. Ash blonde textured dreads read as a clean cool base — the emerald accents push this set into siren / fantasy territory.

Decorations stay simple and silver. Small silver metal beads sit on selected dreads — slim cylindrical accents with no engraving, slid on and held by thread wrap pressure. Silver dread rings hold the thread wraps in place at random points down the strand. The thread wraps come in two colours: light blue thin thread in a tight X-pattern around several emerald and ash strands, plus white thin thread mid-strand on others for a colder accent. Format-wise, Mermaid ships as DE only at 50 cm length. Double ended textured dreads fold around a small natural-hair braid in a U-bend, so both ends fall freely with the raw straight tips visible from any angle. A full head needs 40-50 DE pieces; a partial install for accent stripes or front-only siren styling runs 15-25 pieces. Built from premium heat-resistant Henlon and Kanekalon fiber. The textured finish is locked in with boiling water treatment during production — it will not flatten or lose definition over time. Backcombing opens the workflow: backcomb the kanekalon for volume, crochet each dread with a 0.4mm precision crochet hook (range 0.4-0.6 mm depending on dread thickness), boiling-water-set the finished strand for permanent ridged texture. Hook by hook, ridge by ridge — that is how every Mermaid set leaves our studio across 1.5-2 days of focused hand work. Pure crochet braiding, no wrapping, no machines — and exactly the same hand-crocheted technique that powers our entire crochet dreadlock extensions line.

The routine is simple: wash once a week with diluted shampoo (1:5 ratio, scalp only), air-dry fully, and never use a hot blow dryer or visit a sauna — high heat permanently deforms synthetic textured dreads. Do not comb or brush the textured dreads — gently separate any tangled tips with your fingers to preserve the bumpy surface. This is a fully reusable set: undo the small natural-hair braids at cycle end, store flat without any compression, reinstall after re-braiding your hair. One install holds for 1.5-2 months. Removing is clean — no breakage, no damage to your natural hair underneath. Reinstall the same set multiple times. The boiling-water-set finish means they look like day one every reinstall — the silver metal beads and small silver rings can be re-threaded onto fresh strands later if you ever retire the original fiber.

Note on colour: synthetic fiber reads cooler or warmer depending on screen and lighting. We shoot in diffused daylight for the closest match.
