Where this hair comes from

This hair never went through a factory. A little girl came to a hair salon with her mother because she wanted a short haircut. Her long hair was cut off and sold to the salon, and Danila bought it there. So every dread in this set comes from one person, and the hair went from the donor straight to our studio.

Children’s hair that has never been coloured is among the most expensive hair you can buy. There was no dye, no bleach and no years of hot styling, so the strands are fine, very soft and undamaged. It costs us much more than the hair in our regular natural dreads. That is why this set sits apart from the rest of the collection and has its own price.

Texture and softness

The goal was a texture that looks like old natural dreads, the kind that have grown on someone’s head for years. The dreads are not all the same. Each one has a slightly fuzzy surface, and the light brown shade has a soft ash tone.

Danila crocheted them quite firmly, and he did it on purpose. Fine hair like this fluffs up fast, and a firm dread keeps its shape for longer. Every wash makes them softer. After the first weeks of wear they feel noticeably gentler in your hands.

For many people the loose part is the best thing about this set. Below the dread there are 30–35 cm of soft hair with a natural wave. The tips are lighter, like hair after a summer in the sun. It moves like your own hair and blends into it easily. These human hair dreadlock extensions give you a finished boho look straight away, with dreads mixed into flowing hair.

What is in the set

All 30 dreads are SE: a loop at the top, the dread itself and then the loose hair. The lengths are mixed so the set falls in natural layers:

  • 4 dreads of 40 cm (16″): 10 cm of dread, 30 cm of loose hair
  • 10 dreads of 45 cm (18″): 15 cm of dread, 30 cm of loose hair
  • 5 dreads of 48 cm (19″): 16 cm of dread, 32 cm of loose hair
  • 5 dreads of 50 cm (20″): 18 cm of dread, 32 cm of loose hair
  • 6 dreads of 55 cm (22″): 20 cm of dread, 35 cm of loose hair

Thirty SE dreads are enough for the look in the photos: dreads scattered through your own hair. For a full head of dreads people usually take 40–50 DE. How SE and DE dreads differ.

Temporary or permanent install

You can wear this set either way.

  • Temporary: a strand of your hair goes through the loop of each dread and is braided around it. This install lasts 1.5–2 months, then you take the dreads out and can put them in again later.
  • Permanent: first we make dreads from your own hair, then extend them with this set. The dreads stay in, with a correction every 3–4 months.

The steps are in our guide on how to install dreadlock extensions. Want to see the result on yourself before you buy? Upload a photo to our AI try-on.

Care

Care is the same as for our other natural dreads. Wash once a week or less with shampoo diluted 1:5 in water, and apply it to the scalp only. Skip conditioner: it loosens the braids that hold the dreads. Do not comb the loose ends. Separate them with your fingers.

Like any natural hair, this set can be dyed, curled, or lightened at the loose ends. Danila would not do it, though. The colour here is the hair’s own, and that is exactly what makes it valuable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this set cost more than your other natural dreads?

Because of the hair. Uncoloured children's hair from a single donor is rare, and we pay much more for it than for the hair in our regular natural sets.

Can I order the same set again?

This exact set exists once. After it sells, the page stays here with a "Request a repeat of this set" button. Leave your email and we will look for hair of the same kind and quality. Hair like this is hard to find, so it can take time.

Will the dreads stay this firm?

No. They are crocheted firmly so they don't fluff up after the first washes, and they get softer with every wash.

Can I use a promo code on this set?

No. Promo codes and sales don't apply to this set. It is one of a kind and sold at a fixed price.

When will it ship?

The set is already made. We send it within 5 business days after payment. Delivery prices and times for your country are shown under the buy button.
