Dark Brown Curly Dreadlock Extensions with Silver Pendants

Using only a crochet hook and a comb, we hand-make Dark Brown Curly Dreads, curly synthetic double-ended (DE) dreads measuring 50–55 cm. The curls are Ariel-wave spirals of henlon, and the whole set is solid dark brown.

There is no ombre and no highlights. Braided into natural brunette hair, the dreads blend in with no colour gap at the root and no obvious transition.

The colour that blends into your hair

The shade sits in a neutral-to-warm chocolate zone. It is not red-toned auburn and not cool espresso, but the middle ground between them. Chestnut, walnut, warm brunette and some dark honey tones blend without a visible mismatch.

Under indoor lighting, the set reads as a uniform dark brown. In sunlight, small variations between strands show, much as they do in real hair. Up close, this makes the dreads look natural.

The braided accent strands carry a pair of silver-tone pendants, one shaped like a feather and one a tree-of-life medallion. Each pendant is zinc alloy, cast and given an antique finish. Against the dark brown base, the silver is subtle: visible up close, quiet from a distance.

Each pendant is mounted on a crimp ring. You can remove it with small pliers, swap it for another charm, or wear the braids bare. Earthy brown curls with nature-inspired silver give the set a calm, bohemian look.

A crochet hook and a comb are the only tools we use to make every dread by hand. Henlon forms the curls; this high-temperature fiber can handle heat up to roughly 150 °C. The surface is matte rather than shiny.

From root to tip, each dread keeps a thickness of 0.8–1 cm. Before any set leaves the studio, a maker with over ten years of experience gives it a last inspection. In more than 13 years, DaddyDread has crafted and sent out over 5,000 sets.

With no loop, each DE dread simply folds over a thin braid made from your own hair. Once installed, one dread shows two curly ends, which means 10 dreads give you 20 ends.

Caring for Dark Brown Curly Dreads

Curly dreads need attentive care. A solid colour has no lighter section that shows dirt faster. Once a week, squeeze a diluted sulfate-free shampoo through the dreads. Press them dry with a towel, and never twist or wring.

Conditioner loosens the thin braids of your own hair that hold the dreads, so leave it out. A sauna is fine for henlon. To restyle the curls with a flat iron, keep the temperature moderate and iron only through a damp cotton towel. Let the dreads air-dry rather than using a hot blow dryer.

For storage, take the set out of your braids, wind it into a loose coil and place it in a breathable bag. Because the dreads are temporary, you can switch colours between installs and come back to dark brown later.
