Brown Wheat Turquoise Ombre Dread Extensions — Full Head Dread Set

This set is for people who want depth without sticking to one shade. Most dreads are warm and earthy, with chocolate-brown roots fading into pale wheat blonde tips. The turquoise dreads start with the same brown root and turn into a soft, minty turquoise at the tips. The thin braid ties the two colours together, and every dread keeps a clean, flat surface from root to tip.

The set works for festivals, beach weddings and relaxed summer days. It goes with linen, denim, leather and silver jewellery, and customers wear it with everything from boho dresses to streetwear. If you are choosing a format, see our guide to SE vs DE formats.

Look at the surface: flat and even, crocheted tightly and then steamed by hand. Each dread is one smooth line from root to tip. The brown wheat smooth dreads make the warm base, and the turquoise ombre dreads break it up with colour rather than texture.

Thread wraps appear on many of the dreads in turquoise, white and grey, as X-shaped bindings and long spirals.

Silver bead clamps sit at intervals across the set. They slide on and off, so you can move, swap or remove them without touching the dread. The beads in your set may differ slightly from the photos. The tips are finished as loose tassels instead of being sealed, which gives a soft, handmade look.

DE vs SE Dread Extensions — Picking Your Format

Choose your format. A DE dread is folded in half over a small braid of your hair, so it hangs on both sides. SE dreads have a small loop at the top: a strand of your hair goes through it and is then braided around the dread. Double-ended dreads are the usual choice for a full head, because each one gives two ends per braid. For a few accents, SE gives you more control over placement. Compare other colours in our full collection of synthetic dreadlock extensions.

Plan on 40–50 DE dreads for a full head, or 20–30 to blend some colour into your own hair. In SE, a full head takes 80–100 and a partial look 30–50. At 50 cm, the dreads fall below the shoulders for most people, and each one is 0.8–1 cm thick along its whole length. The set works as a full head or as accents in your own hair.

Kanekalon Dread Extensions, Hand-Crocheted on Low-Temperature Fiber

The fiber is premium low-temperature kanekalon: soft, dyed when the fiber is made, and smooth without fuzzing after the first week. The colour stays the same from batch to batch and through washing, so what arrives matches the photos. It is not heat-resistant, though: heat above 60–70 °C damages it. Every dread in this set uses the same fiber as the rest of our smooth line.

The only tools are a comb and a 0.4 mm crochet hook. Crocheted by hand, dread by dread, and then each one gets its own pass of steam, which sets the fiber and keeps the surface flat. There is no wrapping instead of crochet and no machine work. Before packing, we check every dread for thickness (0.8–1 cm along the whole length) and length (50 cm), check that the lengths match across the set, and a maker with 13 years of experience checks the colour. Check the delivery cost and time for your country just below the buy button.

Care is simple. Wash once a week with diluted shampoo (1:5, scalp only) and let the set air-dry fully. Avoid saunas and hot hair dryers, because strong heat warps smooth synthetic dreads for good. Do not comb or brush the dreads; separate tangled tips with your fingers, and carefully cut off a knot that is badly tangled. Skip conditioner, because it loosens the braids of your own hair that hold the dreads. For sleep, a loose plait or a bonnet keeps them tidy. Our care guides cover every detail.

This set combines well with other DaddyDread sets. Want more turquoise? Add a few turquoise smooth dreads in SE. Want a warmer, calmer look? Add our brown-to-honey ombre. You can also mix it with textured dreads: the smooth ones keep a clean line, and the textured ones add a rougher character. Just order the second set as well and install both together.

The set is made to be worn again. With careful removal and drying between installs, the surface stays smooth. These are reusable dreads, good for two or three installs per set. We photographed the colours in soft daylight, so your screen may show them a little warmer or cooler. From batch to batch, the colour stays the same.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the Brown Wheat Turquoise set last?

One install lasts about 1.5–2 months. The dreads were steamed during making, so their flat surface stays without any refresh. With careful removal and storage, one set lasts two or three installs.

Is the colour blue or turquoise?

Turquoise: a soft, minty blue-green, not a deep blue. It appears only on the lower part of three dreads in every ten, and the roots of those dreads are the same brown as the rest. On screen the turquoise can look a little bluer or greener depending on the light.

Does Brown Wheat Turquoise suit white or very pale blonde hair?

Yes. The wheat tips match light hair, while the brown roots add depth at the scalp, and the turquoise dreads add a fresh accent without clashing. For fine hair we recommend DE: a dread folded over its braid spreads its weight over two ends.

Can I mix this set with curly or textured dreads?

Sure. Plenty of customers take ten dreads from this set and ten from another to make their own mix. The smooth dreads keep a clean line, and the textured or curly ones add a more natural look. Keep the length the same across sets so everything hangs evenly.

How many Brown Wheat Turquoise dreads do I need for a full head?

A full head usually takes 40–50 DE dreads. Partial or accent looks use 20–30. Your hair density matters: finer hair often needs fewer, thicker hair may need a few more. The set is sized for a full head at 50 dreads and accents at 20.

Can I decorate Brown Wheat Turquoise further myself?

Yes. The set comes with turquoise, white and grey thread wraps and silver bead clamps already in place, but you can add your own at any time. The bead clamps slide off, so you can swap them or add new ones. Wrapping thread is a simple technique, shown in the install guides of the DaddyDread Academy.

the blue accents in the brown/wheat are really subtle but they pop in the right light, like at sunset its kinda magical. silver beads feel sturdy not flimsy. wore them to my cousins wedding and got pulled aside multiple times for compliments, even the photographer asked if she could do a portrait haha
