Description

Brown and Creamy Ash is a set of 50–55 cm double-ended (DE) curly synthetic dreads. They are made by hand from henlon in two shades, ashy brown and creamy ash. The set mixes separate curls, and each curl is one colour.

Brown curls and creamy ash curls sit side by side in this set. The Ariel spiral keeps each curl defined, so the two shades stay distinct instead of blurring together.

Two shades of curls in one set

The brown curls are an ashy brown with subtle mushroom undertones. The shade sits between caramel and chocolate, deeper than the first and paler than the second. It suits natural hair in light brown or medium-to-dark blonde shades.

The creamy ash curls are the lighter shade of the set. Mixed with the brown curls, they add contrast across the whole head.

A single ornate Celtic knot charm leads the decorations. It is a Viking-inspired silver pendant on one of the thin braids. Small silver rings sit on a few dreads. A crimp ring holds the charm on the braid, and the pendant is antique-finished cast zinc alloy. You can swap it for another pendant, remove it, or keep it. The beads in your set may differ from the ones in the photos.

How each dread is made

A maker forms each dread by hand, working the fiber with a comb and a crochet hook. The whole set is henlon, a high-temperature, heat-resistant fiber. The curls hold their shape on their own, with no chemical treatment.

Every dread keeps a thickness of 0.8–1 cm from end to end. In more than 13 years, the DaddyDread studio has made and sent out over 5,000 sets. Before shipping, each set gets a final check from a maker with over ten years of experience.

A DE dread has no loop. It simply folds over a thin braid made from your own hair. Because every dread has two curly ends, an install of ten dreads shows twenty. Your own hair stays braided underneath while you wear the set.

Look after your curly dreads closely, but handle them as little as you can.

  1. First two weeks: No water, no shampoo. Let the spirals settle. Every morning, use slightly damp fingers to ease apart any strands that have tangled.
  2. Washing: After two weeks, mix one part sulfate-free shampoo with five parts water. Squeeze it through at the scalp without rubbing the curls, then rinse cool. Skip conditioner, because it loosens the thin braids of your own hair that hold the dreads.
  3. Drying: Blot the dreads with a towel to soak up water, and do not wring them. Skip hot air from the hair dryer.
  4. Tangles: Never use a comb or brush on these dreads. Work the curls apart with your fingers. A badly tangled knot can be carefully cut away.
  5. Night: Before bed, put on a satin bonnet or pile the curls loosely on top of your head in a pineapple. This keeps the curls at the back from matting.

One install lasts 1.5–2 months, and a set lasts 2–3 installs. To take them out, undo the braids, then keep the dreads loosely coiled in a cotton bag.

For a mix of colours or textures, add a second set to your order. For example, add 10–20 of these dreads to a solid brown or lighter set from the curly dreads collection. Or wear this set on its own.

Not sure which attachment style suits you? The DE vs SE format guide explains both. On DaddyDread YouTube you can see the curls braided in and moving.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the two shades of the Brown and Creamy Ash set look like in person?

The brown curls are an ashy mushroom brown, not a warm caramel. The other curls are a creamy ash. Each curl is one colour. We take the photos in natural daylight, but your screen settings may shift the colours slightly.

How many Brown and Creamy Ash dreads do I need for a natural look?

Forty DE cover most heads with natural density. Fifty to seventy give fuller volume. A set of 70 contains 63 curly dreads and 7 thin braids.

How long does the Brown and Creamy Ash set last, and do the curls hold between installs?

One install lasts 1.5–2 months, and a set lasts 2–3 installs. Between installs, store the dreads loosely coiled so the spirals stay intact.

this was my first ever set of dread extensions and im glad i picked these. the celtic charm caught my eye but its the curl pattern that sold me, looks really natural with my own waves. husband took some convincing on the look but now he says they suit me which is essentially a compliment from him lol. customer service answered like 6 emails before i ordered.

the celtic charm is a really lovely detail, sounds silly but it actually means something to me being irish. the ombre fades naturally without that harsh line some places give you. installation by my sister took the whole afternoon plus pizza, but she did a great job following the youtube tutorial. been wearing them for almost 3 months now.
