Description
Black Grey Ombre is a set of 50 cm textured dreads in DE or SE, hand-crocheted from low-temperature kanekalon and shading from black to silver. The gradient runs from jet-black roots through a smoke-grey middle to silver-grey tips. The bumpy relief is fixed in boiling water during production.
Decorations sit on the upper section. Small silver patterned beads are placed on selected strands. White thread X-pattern wraps go on the darker strands, and black thread X-pattern wraps on the lighter silver-grey ones. Slim flat three-strand braids add a smooth line against the ridged texture. Every wrap, bead and braid is placed by hand.

How Black Grey Ombre is made
The process starts with a comb, which backcombs the kanekalon fiber. Then we crochet each dread by hand, using a 0.4 mm hook in most cases and a 0.6 mm hook for thicker dreads. The last step is boiling water, which sets the relief of every finished dread. Making one textured set takes 1 to 3 days. Black to grey to silver: the colour zones
The colour transition runs continuously from root to tip. Each strand carries the full gradient: a jet-black top, a smoke-grey middle and silver-grey tips that fall freely with raw straight ends. Solid black accent strands break up the ombre and add depth. The result looks moody and organic rather than uniform.

The colour is set when the fiber is made. It does not fade or oxidise, and it is the same from batch to batch.
Decoration details: small silver patterned beads in narrow cylinders sit on selected strands. White X-wraps on the jet-black dreads give high contrast. Black X-wraps on the silver-grey strands give the reverse effect. The beads in your set may look different from the ones in the photos.

Fiber: low-temperature kanekalon
This set is made only from low-temperature kanekalon. This fiber is not heat-resistant, so anything hotter than 60–70 °C will harm it. While you wear Black Grey Ombre, stay away from saunas, hot blow dryers and other strong heat.
DE and SE formats of Black Grey Ombre
DE dreads fold over a thin braid of your own hair and have no loop. An SE dread is fitted onto a strand of hair by its loop. After that, the hair strand is braided around the dread. You can order DE in sets of 10 to 50 dreads and SE in sets of 20 to 100. For a full head, plan on 40–50 DE or 80–100 SE. A smaller set works for blending a few dreads into your own hair. Wearing Black Grey Ombre
Thanks to its bumpy surface, Black Grey Ombre looks like mature locs right after install. It suits festivals, everyday wear and layered bohemian looks. Want mixed textures? Care for Black Grey Ombre
- Washing: once a week at most, with shampoo diluted 1:5 and applied only to the scalp. Let the dreads air-dry.
- Tangles: never use a comb or brush on the dreads. Separate tangles with your fingers. A badly tangled knot can be carefully cut off.
- Heat: avoid saunas and hot blow dryers. The fiber is harmed by temperatures over 60–70 °C.
- No conditioner: the thin braids of your own hair that hold the dreads can come loose if you use it.
- Night: a sleep bonnet or a loose braid keeps the dreads from tangling.
